Voting under way for Russian Volunteer of 2019

Public voting for the Russian Volunteer of 2019 competition underway

05.11.2019

Public voting for the national Russian Volunteer of 2019 competition has begun on the dobrovoltsirossii.rf website and will continue until 10 November. Winners in a special Public Recognition category will be announced at the International Volunteers’ Forum meeting to be held from 2-5 December in Sochi.

Participants will be able to see the activities and initiatives of contestants over eight years of age in the “Generous Acts” and “Creative Work” categories, as well as projects from entrants aged 14-17 and over 18 year olds in all sections of the “Social Project” category. One winner in each category will be selected by popular vote. The winners will be chosen in two adult sections in the “Social Project” category.

In order to vote for the best project, it will be necessary to register on the dobrovoltsirossii.rf website and choose your favourite project by going to the “Contest” section. People can vote for just one project in each category, as well as one project in the “Social”, “Generous Acts” and “Creative Work” categories.

Next year, the winners chosen by public vote will have the opportunity of taking part in accelerated project support and foreign educational internship programmes as part of the Volunteers Mobility initiative (for those over 18) and will receive relevant information and expert advice support.

According to the organisers, the results of the public vote will not affect the outcome of the national Russian Volunteer competition. The winners of the main contest will be determined by a federal jury panel who will consider all entries from 23 October–10 November. Three winners will be selected from each category from which the best Russian Volunteer of the Year will be chosen.

The Russian Volunteer contest is being held for the ninth time and is one of the initiatives that forms part of the “Russia – a land of opportunity” programme. It enables successful social projects to be supported and replicated throughout Russia. This year’s grant fund amounts to 45 million roubles which is three times more than last year. The winners will receive up to two million roubles to help implement their projects, as well as being able to participate in partner education programmes. The award of previous “Best Russian Volunteer of the year” prizes has been presented by Vladimir Putin on three separate occasions.
