05.12.2018

Pamyat Pokoleniy (Memory of Generations), the foundation and organiser of volunteering centres, is set to open 15 new silver volunteering centres by the end of 2019. It has already set up 15 centres in 15 different regions this year.

2018 will see the national grants competition to support and establish ‘silver volunteering’ centres, according to the participants of a panel session entitled ‘Silver volunteering: impetus for intergenerational bonding’ during the International Volunteer Forum in Moscow.

Natalya Rusakova, the moderator of the platform and coordinator of the federal programme Young at Heart of the Association of Volunteer Centers, presented the first results of the collaboration with foundation.

In her view, volunteering – which was once considered a young person’s activity – has allowed older people to get involved in national and international projects.

As explained by Yulia Maltseva, director of Serebryaniy Vozrast (Silver Age) in St Petersburg, a series of topical webinars are being planned for 2019 in order to increase the skill level of volunteers.
