The Ministry of Justice to prepare a register of NGOs that provide socially useful services

Moscow, 12.10.2016

A draft regulation prepared by the Justice Ministry on a “Register of NGOs that provide socially useful services” has gone out to public consultation.

Amendments to existing NGO legislation will come into force from 1 January 2017 in accordance with the federal law conferring new legal status on NGOs as “providers of socially useful services”.

According to the Ministry, the draft regulation seeks to create a procedure for establishing a register of such organisations and for deciding whether to recognise a SONGO as a provider of socially useful services, together with a list of forms and documents required for this.

The public consultation began on 4 and will end on 18 October. The text of the draft regulation can be found on: http://regulation.gov.ru/projects/list/advancedsearch#npa=55565.
