"COMPASSION" Humanitarian and Charitable Center
Charitable Foundation for Support of Victims of Torture and Organized Violence
"Compassion" Center&Fund (Humanitarian and Charitable Center & Charitable Foundation for Support of Victims of Torture and Organized Violence "Compassion") was created in 1989 under aegis of the " The Moscow Memorial Society " .
The basic mission of the "Compassion" is to treat and rehabilitate the persons injured of the severe brutal reference, the organized violence; initiation of the civil activity directed on public rejection of tortures, a genocide, mass cruelty. Wards of the centre - victims of reprisals in the former USSR and NAZI, the modern armed and general-political conflicts in the Russian society.
PROGRAMS of ACTIVITY of the "COMPASSION":
HOME HELP SERVICE - rendering of the medical, psychological and social help to old, ill, lonely people - to victims of Stalin reprisals and NAZI victims. To especially requiring needy patients there is a medicinal and grocery charitable help.
MEDICAL NURSE PALLIATIVE HELP - a care in-home for dying patients; the psychological help to members of families of aged diseases taking place in a terminal stage; training of relatives to receptions of a care for dying.
CHILDREN of WAR And XXI CENTURY - medical and psychological rehabilitation of children and women in areas of modern confrontations.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS - a permanent training rate for patronage employees and volunteers of a social service which necessity is caused by difficulties of dialogue with former subjected to repression and NAZI victims, representing especially difficult group of socially unprotected layers of the population.
VOLUNTARY PROGRAMS set as the purpose development and perfection of voluntary movement, as tool of cultural social and professional growth. In the Centre female and youth voluntary clubs which primary activity is directed as on attraction of an additional manpower to programs on a care of patients of the centre, and on creation of opportunities for realization of civil activity constantly operate at work with socially unprotected layers of the population - old men, invalids, children - orphans.
INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTARY CENTRE operates since 1993. Young men and girls from USA, Italy, Sweden, Germany look after aged patients of the centre. For German young men social work in Russia is set off as alternative civil service.
"ACS" PROGRAM was created on the basis of unique for Russia of experience of the organization of service German alternative the soldier in social sphere. The Moscow young men asserting a constitutional law on alternative civil service (ACS), work in the centre on a care in-home for aged invalids, thus it there is a legal and psychological support, preparation for litigation is carried out. The "Compassion" is one of initiators of creation of Coalition of NGO " For democratic ACS ".
The"Compassion" is an active participant of social movements for acceptance of the laws regulating life of new democratic Russia. Experts of the centre were invited to development and expert estimation of such federal bills, as: " About rehabilitation of victims of political reprisals "," About the noncommercial organizations "," About public associations "," the State social order ", "About alternative civil service ", the international convention " About rights of the child ". Programs and projects of the centre show experimental platforms for improvement of the basic concepts of these laws, give an opportunity to a society for the civil control of democratic character and effectiveness of their positions.
