Beginning of second phase of the campaign “Only a human can do it”

18 August 2010

The aim of the campaign is to inform the public about the importance of donating blood and blood products, as a normal activity in a civilised society. The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare invited internet users to take part via various social websites. The website for donors, www.yadonor.ru, was updated during the campaign, providing information to potential donors, journalists, NGOs, companies and others. The site is interactive, and provides information on developments in the regions, the blood transfusion service, localities and times of future blood collections, and the number of donors. There is also information for first-time donors, such as how to prepare for donation, and a questionnaire to complete on health matters to check whether one is suitable as a donor. There is information for children, at the request of parents, and a hotline for those seeking information on blood donation, and factors affecting suitability for donation: 8-800-333-33-30. Its operators are able to answer callers’ questions on blood donation. Calls are answered at any time of the day or night, and are free of charge.
