Belarusian Association of Social Workers

The non-governmental non-profit organization "Belarusian Association of Social Workers" was set up in 1996 on the initiative of professional social workers and members of social NGOs. At the time BASW has republican status.

The major aim of BASW is to promote social work as a profession and system of social services for different category of people.

BASW's emblem is an image of a winged anthropomorphous figure enclosed in a circle. Either a bird or a girl... She seems to be trying to shield by her wings everyone who needs help. This is our symbol - a symbol of protection and care for those in need, assistance to those who, by fate's will, are in trouble and have no adequate experience or knowledge. The members of the Association also joined their efforts to work for the public good. We seek opportunities to fulfil our ideas, we implement projects both to support professional groups of social workers and to protect socially disadvantaged groups of people.
