The "Gowards" Charitable Foundation for children and orphans was established in 2003 under the auspices of the "Happyland" Company, one of the largest food and beverage industry producers in Russia.
The Foundation's activity is focused primarily on the development and implementation of the educational programs for foster children in Russia.
The main objective of the "Gowards" Foundation is not only to let neglected children attain a crucially new educational level, but also to bring up a self-sufficient and socially adapted personality. As a rule, corporate assistance to children's communities is of a short-term nature: clothing, footwear, products. We believe that "it is better to give a rod to a man and teach how to still hunger any time, rather than give a fish and have a full belly once".
The "Gowards" Foundation's activity, as distinct from other social organizations, centers on the long-term projects aimed at consistent and enduring upbringing of a child (from 3 years old up to the age of admission to a higher institution) in a special creative and harmonious atmosphere. To the earnest belief of the Foundation's members and their associates, any disadvantaged child is as talented as other "home" children and has equal chances for a safe future and conscious choice of the social environment later on.
We strive to provide these children with all conditions necessary for comfortable living: assist with maintenance and improvement of premises, buy toys, arrange holidays. But our primary mission is to behold these children's life in 10 years and secure them a safe and stable future. This goal is achieved through education and development of a child from 3 years old upwards.
Nowadays it is rather difficult for children's home alumni to continue their education at higher institutions, instead most confine themselves to technical schools - the social status predetermines further professional development.
The "Gowards" Foundation prepares children both morally and intellectually to pass the entrance examinations successfully. Teaching is maintained at a very high level, comparable to that of university teachers.
More than that, one of the Foundation's important tasks is to provide advanced training for teachers and mentors, following the oriental wisdom: "sow a seed in a teacher - and it will come up in a pupil".
The Foundation's priority is a social protection and educational program that is being carried out nowadays in the children's home in Nekrasovka (the Tver region, Central Russia).
