Registration begins for the “Community” Forum’s Southern Federal District meeting

Volgograd, 30.08.2016

The eighth meeting of the “Community” forum will take place from 22-23 September in Volgograd.

The Federation’s Public Chamber has announced the start of registrations for the “Community” Forum’s Southern Federal District meeting. Participants will discuss current problems affecting the development of the NGO sector and ways in which these can be resolved. They will meet representatives from the Public Chamber and federal and regional experts, acquire vital knowledge that will help in their work, give presentations on their projects and share experiences with colleagues.

Last year’s Southern Federal District meeting took place in Krasnodar and was attended by more than 500 representatives from NGOs, businesses, and regional and federal authorities. Results from a sociological survey conducted prior to the meeting indicated that advocacy of human rights was the most important issue among proactive citizens and NGOs in the district.

This year, the “Community” forum is holding discussion and educational platforms which will cover the Forum’s principal cross-cutting theme of preparing a framework to promote the work of the third sector to be presented at the last in a series of Forum meetings in Moscow in November.

Forum meetings have already taken place in Omsk, Perm, Khabarovsk, Yalta, Ekaterinburg, Cherepovets and Grozny. Volgograd is the penultimate gathering prior to Moscow.
