DFID Working to reduce poverty in Tajikistan and Central Asia

DFID and other donors have assisted the Government of Tajikistan in developing a long-term National Development Strategy (NDS) for 2007-2015 and a medium-term Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) for 2007-2009.

The donors and the government have started the process of developing a Joint Country Support Strategy (JCSS), which is expected by early 2009.

In the following three years DFID activity will focus on the governance and economic growth; particular support will be offered to the private sector.

The programme will be implemented by the Tajikistan’s emerging Joint Country Support Strategy (JCSS) in cooperation with other donors, including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Union, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
