The award ceremony for the “Cooperation” prize will take place on 30 November at the Federation’s Public Chamber building in Moscow. The prize organising committee has until 20 November to a compile a short-list of potential prize winners in 13 categories in the main and creative competitions.

In the main competition categories of the 7th All-Russian prize competition for the best contribution for increasing the number of blood donors, the “Cooperation” organising committee will be considering projects that promote voluntary blood donations from organisations that operate in this field, as well as SONGOs, initiative groups, blood service institutions and representatives from the business sector. The organising committee for the creative competition comprising representatives from State agencies and the medical community, NGOs, the media and public figures will assess poems, essays, videos and photographs that highlight the positive benefits of donating blood.

“Naturally we wish all our contestants the very best of luck. But, let us not forget that the real reward for giving blood lies not in receiving a certificate or winning a prize, but in improving peoples’ health and saving lives. This prize for promoting blood donoring in Russia is designed to disseminate best practice, give the blood donation sector the opportunity of sharing information with one another, as well as them taking on board the experiences of different Russian regions and then put the knowledge gained to good use”, said Elena Stefaniuk, Director of the National Health Development Fund and Deputy Head of the Blood Donation Coordination Centre at the Federation’s Public Chamber.

The award ceremony will be hosted for the second time by the popular cinema and theatre actor, Alexander Oleshko, who is himself a blood donor. This event is open to everyone, although people will need to pre-register their attendance by completing a short online form.

The “Cooperation” prize was first introduced in 2010 by the Blood Donation Coordination Centre for the Organisation, Development and Promotion of Voluntary Blood Donations at the Federation’s Public Chamber. In all, over 350 entries from all Russian federal districts have been submitted for this year’s competition.
