The BEARR Trust held a conference for NGOs supporting people displaced by conflict in Ukraine at the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) in Lviv on 12 and 13 May 2016. It was organised jointly with the Institute of Leadership and Management of UCU. The press release can be read here.

Its aim was to allow NGOs to share experience, learn from international experience and build networks. About 60 NGO representatives were represented, including some awarded small grants by the BEARR Trust in 2015 for psychological support to people displaced by the conflict in Ukraine, as well as more than 30 other guests and speakers. It held plenary sessions and a number of workshops and break-out groups. A number of the participating NGOs were themselves headed or represented by internally displaced persons. Discussions were animated and fruitful, and in addition, there was a donors’ fair and an exhibition of NGOs.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which has a major programme of support for displaced people in Ukraine, kindly agreed to support the conference, and took an active part in the proceedings. A report on the conference will appear soon on this page.
The only Catholic university on the territory of the former Soviet Union, the Ukrainian Catholic University’s Institute of Leadership and Management supports the development of NGOs.
