Trustee Charlie Walker runs the London Marathon for BEARR

Charlie’s message

I’m running the London marathon in 2019 to raise money for the BEARR Trust, which supports vulnerable people in countries of the former Soviet Union. BEARR, of which I’m a trustee, runs an annual grants competition that provides funding for small NGOs operating across the Eurasian region, and this year’s scheme focuses on charities working to prevent, or to help victims of, violence against women and girls. Gender-based violence – including rape, domestic violence, mutilation, murder, sexual abuse, and trafficking – is a profound problem for women and girls across the world, and in countries of the former Soviet Union has been exacerbated by the social, political and economic dislocations of the transition period. Donations to this page will go directly towards much-needed GBV projects in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

Thanks so much for your support, it is going to a good cause.

Update: Charlie raised £919 for our Small Grants Scheme! Thank you Charlie!
