On 7 September, a large-scale programme ‘Working without limits’ was launched aimed at providing support to disabled people. New and existing social entrepreneurs from the Moscow, St Petersburg, Rostov, Samara, Voronezh, Novosibirsk, Yaroslavl, Tula and Khabarovsk oblasts will be taking part in this initiative, which is being organised by the regional social programmes Our Future charity.

Working without limits is a comprehensive programme of training and financial support provided by social entrepreneurs aimed at integrating disabled adults into society and the workplace. It includes a theme-based online school for social entrepreneurship, as well as a grant competition. Entrepreneurs will be able to apply for grants of up to 400,000 roubles out of a total grant fund of more than six million roubles. Successful projects will receive specialist help for a period of up to 12 months.

“Yaroslavl is taking part in this type of project for the first time. We are hoping to get a clear idea of what social entrepreneurship actually means. Most of all, we want to make a meaningful contribution to the creation of sustainable small business models that bring long-term social benefits”, said Alexander Sokolov, Director of the Yaroslavl Resource Centre for Support to NGOs and Civil Initiatives, in a conversation with the Agency of Social Information.

According to the organisers, the expected outcome from the training will be the start-up of a social business school run by trainees that will help in developing a social business from the initial concept right through to its implementation and preparing a business plan that will be presented to potential investors.

Registration for a free introductory session is open until 20 September, which will lead to the selection of trainees for a further five months’ training.

Applications to take part in the grant competition will be accepted until 17 November for existing businesses and 2 March next year for start-ups.
